Moxy Sydney Airport Hotel
In 2023 Saint Cloche Gallery collaborated with Marriott International’s dazzling new Moxy Sydney Airport Hotel.
Founder of Saint Cloche, Kitty Clark curated and ‘captured culture’ to display through various artist’s work on display either within the Art House breakout space or within the rooms at the Moxy Airport Hotel.
Saint Cloche represented artist, Evi O’s works can be seen in each of the Moxy Hotel’s rooms as luminary examples of Moxy’s Mission for Design; Seriously Considered. Playfully Executed. While works from Saxon JJ Quin, Bec Smith, Will Cooke are on who in the two-storey wall in the Art House off the entry foyer of the hotel.
Throughout the ages artists have translated a society’s culture as a ‘time capsule’ of cultural identity through their work and are often the best at telling the stories of our collective history and where humanity’s zeitgeist was, at any moment in history. Creative placemaking with art animates public and private spaces, revitalising structures, and streetscapes, animates businesses and is an essential part of building a more cohesive community and is just as integral as other pillars of development such as infrastructure, land use, education, etc.
To celebrate this collaboration and as part of a VIP live offsite event as part of Sydney Contemporary 2023, Saint Cloche hosted a panel discussion at Moxy Sydney Airport Hotel foyer. The panellists made up of all the artists exhibited with the Art House and moderated by Billie Routledge discussed the Topic: ‘Placemaking Through Art’ - how leveraging the arts and engaging sensory design can make spaces more liveable and enhance quality of life.
