To mark the unveiling of Yibiribir, little markings by proud Wiradjuri artist Hannah Lange, Saint Cloche Atelier hosted an intimate sensory celebration on the eve of the Winter Solstice, an evening of art, story and seasonal cuisine.
Rich and earthy in tone, Hannah’s new body of work honours the quiet, organic rhythms of Country, capturing the subtle patterns found in bushland, rivers and ancient sandstone. Her paintings are a deeply personal meditation on memory, ancestry and belonging.
“This body of work honours the small, quiet patterns we often overlook. Reminders of deep time, of the presence of ancestors.”
– Hannah Lange
Guests were treated to an exquisite plant-based menu by Chef Shu Liu, founder of Melbourne’s acclaimed Chinese kitchen SHU Restaurant. Inspired by the delicate and poetic nuances of nature, Shu’s offering included daikon rolls filled with raw vegetables and black tahini, silver spoons of yuzu butter with finger lime and kumquat, sea vegetable tartlets, and porcini-infused cashew cream served in eggshells. An artfully curated table of seasonal fungi set the tone. Everything on the table was edible, a sensory ode to land and season.
“At Shu, every dish tells a story. From the land, from memory, from imagination. It’s food as emotion, as nature, as art.”
– Chef Shu Liu
Both Hannah and Shu shared heartfelt reflections on their connection to land, offering insight into how Country, memory and cultural tradition shape their respective practices in art and food.
Curated by Kitty Clark, the evening encapsulated the spirit of Saint Cloche Atelier, where art, culture and thoughtful design create space for connection and thoughtful exchange.
“It’s the little details that create the most lasting impressions. Moments of care, beauty and connection stay with us, quietly resonating over time.”
– Kitty Clark
With heartfelt thanks to Four Pillars Gin for the exquisite Yuzu pour, Studio.ALM for their thoughtful design pieces, and Cadrys for grounding the space with warmth and texture. It was a pleasure to welcome Hannah back to the gallery — this time with her newborn son, Blue.
