Saint Cloche is delighted to announce the debut solo exhibition of ephemeral sculptor Greg Penn. Greg has previously participated in group exhibitions at Saint Cloche and the Etherium off-site exhibition, presented in collaboration with Tiffany & Co., where several of his works were acquired for their flagship stores in Melbourne and Sydney.

Greg's art exudes a distinct monastic and spiritual essence, reflecting the profound discipline, concentration, and mental clarity cultivated through a two decades-long dedication to yoga. This practice has not only honed his ability to clear his mind but has also significantly enhanced his creative focus and artistic expression.

“To observe the internal mechanism requires one to throw the powers of the mind upon itself, which requires attention, concentration and lots of practice. It’s one of the main features of my art practice and has an ancient tradition reaching back over 5000 years, deep in the science of yoga.”

My interest in cosmic consciousness stems from exploring how art reflects this inner journey. Through my practice, I awaken the dormant cosmic energy within us, which, according to modern physics, is a dance of subatomic matter—constantly creating and destroying, both dynamic and static. In Hindu mythology, this dance encompasses the entire cosmos and underpins all existence and natural phenomena.

In my art, this cosmic dance connects me to higher frequencies where shapes transcend mere visual perception. Vision gives way to insight and intuition, aligning with the Indian tradition's concept of Para—a state beyond mind and speech, embodying the highest form of creative expression. This state enhances the core of one's being, achieving unity with oneself and the universe.

Art plays a crucial role in shaping our attitudes and responses. In an age where modern science and technology often lead to physiological disturbances and existential despair, my artistic practice provides relief from life's stresses. By fostering a deeper understanding and intuition, art becomes a means of shaping consciousness, allowing the artist to explore and express profound spiritual insights and navigate their experiences meaningfully.
