Skye Jamieson’s work explores the interplay of water, light, and the environment, with each brushstroke serving as a meditation on balance and fluidity. Using natural materials and a delicate, layered approach, she creates art that reflects her profound connection to the earth and her surroundings.

Jamieson studied Drawing and Print-Media, with a minor in Painting, at the Australian National University, where she honed her skills in drawing, painting, lithography, and glass. Her practice is deeply rooted in observation, with her landscapes and abstracted forms often inspired by fleeting moments of transformation in nature.

Since graduating, Jamieson has exhibited nationally, earning recognition as a finalist in notable awards such as the Wollumbin Art Award and the Macquarie Emerging Artist Prize. Her works have been described as ethereal, immersive, and attuned to the subtle rhythms of the natural world.

Based in a studio in Byron, NSW, Jamieson’s practice invites viewers to reflect on the intricate relationship between art, nature, and perception, fostering a sense of stillness and contemplation in the face of ever-changing landscapes.

This body of work marks a shift in my practice, bringing a newfound softness shaped by my materials and a recent move to a new studio. Rainwater connects these works to the environment, inviting questions about transformation and resonance.

Materials like marble, lapis lazuli, and chalk have opened new spaces in my practice, encouraging movement across the canvas- like a prayer, a blessing, or a gift - embracing the work as it is.
