Saint Cloche Gallery is thrilled to present Dandelion, the latest body of work by Stacey Rees. Known for her exploration of identity and the impressions we hold of ourselves- both inwardly and outwardly - Rees draws inspiration here from the humble dandelion, transforming this often-overlooked plant into a symbol of resilience, clarity, and inner peace.

The dandelion’s vibrant yellow evokes warmth and positivity, reminding viewers of sunshine and renewal. With her signature playfulness, Rees captures the dandelion’s journey from bright flower to delicate puffball, a transformation that invites reflections on resilience and change. For Rees, blowing on a dandelion’s seeds - a childhood ritual full of wishes - symbolises letting go of the past and embracing new beginnings.

In Dandelion, Rees offers a joyful palette of cheerful colours and a looser, more transparent technique than seen in her previous works. Each piece radiates warmth and lightheartedness, encouraging viewers to see beauty in impermanence and to welcome nostalgia’s gentle presence.

Join us in celebrating this vibrant, joyful collection, and reconnect with the small joys often hidden in the everyday.

“I want the viewer to experience this series with fresh eyes, to feel the happiness and optimism that these bright, playful colours evoke.

Inspired by the dandelion, I’ve embraced a freer, more relaxed style, inviting everyone to live in the moment with me.”

Stacey Rees is a contemporary abstract artist based in the Grampians, Victoria and is an observer of life and people. She looks beyond what is on the surface and is more interested in inner workings. Although Stacey has been exhibiting since 2002 and was most recently a finalist in the Percival Portrait Painting Prize, 2020, this will be Stacey’s third reveal at the gallery.
