CURIO: A CELEBRATION OF ART, DESIGN AND CONNECTION
Presented by Belle in partnership with GlobeWest and Saint Cloche, Curio brings together GlobeWest’s limited-edition collection with a curated selection of contemporary art, exploring the intersections of colour, form and creative expression.
Curated by Saint Cloche Founder and Gallery Director Kitty Clark, the exhibition reflects her distinctive approach to colour, contrast and composition. Drawing on the graphic confidence and material richness of the 1970s and 1980s, saturated hues, tactile materials and sculptural forms create a dynamic dialogue between art and design. Restraint meets exuberance, minimalism meets maximalism, with each element retaining its individual character.
Central to the exhibition are three Saint Cloche artists whose practices and relationships with Kitty reflect the gallery’s curatorial vision.
Evi O, multidisciplinary artist, designer and publisher, shares Kitty’s immigrant experience and expansive creative outlook. Their longstanding collaboration includes Evi’s sold-out Fantasia presentation at Sydney Contemporary in 2019. Her abstract compositions reveal an intuitive mastery of colour and balance.
Fiona Barrett-Clark, first discovered by Kitty through an early Saint Cloche art prize, captures suburban architecture, fleeting light and the nuances of Australian life through a heightened, hyper-real lens.
Hannah Lange, a proud Wiradjuri artist, draws upon her intimate connection to Country, translating landscape, memory and cultural identity into a deeply personal visual language.
Distinct in expression, the three artists share an attentiveness to nature, place and lived experience, qualities that resonate throughout Kitty’s curatorial approach.
The exhibition was celebrated with a conversation between Kitty and the three artists, moderated by Tanya Buchanan, Editor-in-Chief of Belle, exploring colour, creative originality, collecting and the relationship between art and design.
Extending the philosophy of Saint Cloche Atelier, Curio considers art and design as equal creative forces, each enriching the presence of the other while fostering connections between people, objects and space.
The Curio exhibition remains on view, with visits available by appointment.
