Hannah Lange is a proud Wiradjuri woman and self-taught artist whose practice offers a quiet yet resonant expression of connection to nature, culture and Country. Raised in the Blue Mountains on Dharug and Gundungurra Country, her formative relationship with this landscape continues to ground her work. Her paintings capture the sweeping grandeur of native bushland, winding rivers and ancient sandstone cliffs, while also attending to the finer details such as shifting light, the textures of bark and the subtle rhythms that echo through the land.
Now living on Bundjalung Country in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, Lange draws inspiration from the surrounding forests and coastlines. Her practice, rooted in stillness, memory and reverence, sustains her deep connection to culture and ancestors.
In recent years Lange has gained increasing recognition. She was awarded the 2024 Wollumbin Art Award for her painting Weaving by the River, which also earned her a residency at the Nancy Fairfax Artist Studio. Her work has also been included in satellite exhibitions with Tiffany & Co.
Through her practice, Hannah Lange continues to tell enduring stories of Country, honouring the living, breathing presence of the land and its ongoing cycles of renewal.
