“I turned 50 last year, and (rather than a party) to combat my own anxieties around this life transition, thought I’d celebrate all the incredible women I know and see bridging 50. It’s a powerful life transition traversing through menopause, and women have really wanted to share their stories, so the project seems to have taken on a life of its own....Conversations over numerous cups of tea & handmade chocolates from Byron Bay, listening to women’s stories about what’s important to them now, how they feel about aging, how they see themselves and how they want to be seen. We women have looked at ourselves far too long through the eyes of the harsh critic. A portrait with The Modern Muse is dreaming ourselves anew. We take the trouble to find out who and what inspires our client (our muse), and through collaboration and kind imagination, discover and highlight what is beautiful for women to see themselves benevolently as they truly are."
