Opening: 10 – 21 March 2021
Meet the Artist: Saturday 13th March, 11am – 4pm
We are excited to share with you emerging artist Kate Florence’s debut Sydney Solo show, ‘Scenes of an untold story’. Kate has a background in Fine Art and textile, based in Bryon Bay she draws inspiration from her sunny environment, working from her Brunswick studio.
This body of work is a lively exploration reminiscent of post modern expressionism and Matissian composition. Stills that are encompassing layers of form, snippets of a story, with no beginning and no end, moments of play and energy between humans, moments of joy, moments of tenderness. Exploring soft, large areas of colour, layer over layer of paint, each one a building block in time, capturing a moment, before moving, evolving into something new.
Kate combines colour with line work, in an intuitive process, creating conversation through colour and form, her expressiveness is revealed through fluid application of paint, her focus tuned into the emotive response of colour, and the patterns created through her many layers of working.
This series is a celebration of the beauty of figurative and human life, a marriage of the classical and abstract.
