Luciana Smith is a Sydney based artist who studied painting, photography and film theory at UNSW Art & Design, she has also studied and worked in the field of graphic design. Since completing a Bachelor of Fine Art/Arts at UNSWAAD
in 2015, Luciana has exhibited around Australia and internationally at the Arts Inn Florence, Florence; Saint Cloche, Sydney; Innerspace Contemporary, Brisbane; Dungog Contemporary, Dungog and was selected as a finalist in the 2017 and 2018 Waverley Art Prize. Her work is held in private collections in Australia, and internationally. Most recently, Luciana was featured in The Design Files as an emerging artist to watch.
Her work is an assemblage of snapshots that re-contextualise their subjects by connecting fleeting gestures with found imagery. Luciana resurrects what she observes with intrepid use of colour and a sassy, self-assuredness.
