THIS SPRING AT SAINT CLOCHE, UTOPIA GOODS PRESENT ‘(NO) WALLFLOWERS ALLOWED’, A THREE-DIMENSIONAL EXHIBITION, SHOWCASING THE COLLECTION AND SELECTED PAINTINGS BY BRUCE SLORACH.
Utopia Goods will completely transform the Saint Cloche gallery space like never before, with a bright and bold installation which might be Sydney’s loudest and most colourful exhibition! This exhibition will showcase the evolution of Utopia Goods distinctive design process – from original artwork through to finished product. The show will feature a sumptuous collection of hand printed silk scarves, a bold new wallpaper range and a special preview of Slorach’s latest artworks. Hand-screen printing is an ancient craft undergoing a contemporary renaissance, and Utopia Goods limited edition scarves and linens perfectly documents the skilful craft.
With an emphasis on print and colour, the beautiful hand printed textiles and unique paintings demonstrate Sophie Tatlow and Bruce Slorach’s commitment to their ‘no cultural cringe’ ethos and a passion for native Australian Botanicals.
Founded in 2012, Utopia Goods, designed by Bruce Slorach and Sophie Tatlow, produces unique handcrafted accessories, home furnishings and quality interior fabrics. Each design is illustrated, and hand-screen printed on premium linen, to create a collection of textile designs celebrating Australian flora and fauna. Whether they are mixing the old and new, whimsical and wild, they are passionate about designing beautiful limited-edition products.
Artist, designer and art director, Bruce Slorach, who works across the multi-disciplinary design industry in Australia, illustrates all the textiles. He has shown his illustrations and textiles internationally and his work is held in the permanent collection of the Powerhouse Museum (Sydney), the National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne) and he has participated in various independent group shows. In 2016 Bruce’s works were showcased in an exhibition titled ‘Flora’ at Saint Cloche Gallery in Paddington, Sydney and most recently at Hamilton Regional Gallery in September 2018.
