In these surreal times it’s nice to be able to share the little things in life that bring joy to our community and beyond. We are so delighted to announce our annual feel-good, community initiative, The Little Things Art Prize 2021! The finalists exhibition always brings us so much happiness and we hope that it does the same for you.
While we are all continuing to adjust to a ‘new normal’ – a gradual realisation is dawning that perhaps our way of life before this pandemic left a lot to be desired. Perhaps, we should not be wishing that we could turn around and go backward, but rather have the perspective that we are being given an opportunity to transform and create a much brighter future. At Saint Cloche we continue to take sustenance from the togetherness of our community and we find meaning and courage to keep creating and move forward with intention.
Now in its sixth year, LTAP2021 is a competition developed by local artist Marnie Ross and supported through the Woollahra Council & Cultural Grants Program. The competition welcomes submissions by artists with varying degrees of experience and motivates the local community to come together creatively.
Artists are invited to respond to the concept of the ‘little things’ in life that make them feel happy or grateful. Surely, focussing their creative potential on this concept alone, will birth a perspective to access the best often hidden in the subconscious. We are always inspired by the results, and we’re pretty sure that with some help from our wonderful judges, we will unearth and manifest treasure and an abundance of positivity!
There are two categories – wall work and ceramics. Entry is open to all ages and closes September 5th 2021.
Finalist and Prize winners will be selected by the 2021 judging panel as follows: Louise Tuckwell, Kiata Mason and Odette Ireland. The ‘Young Artists’ category judges are Kersten Strecker and Kitty Clark, Saint Cloche Founder.
Last year, the finalists exhibition included works from over 100 artists. The finalist exhibition opens 13th – 24th October. At this stage, we are planning that LTAP2021 will be conducted in Saint Cloche’s online viewing gallery with personal one-on-one showings at the gallery in Paddington, to be by appointment only.
Behind the scenes, we have been busier than ever, and still endeavour to offer a positive community experience, with the use of Saint Cloche Gallery’s online viewing room, videos of artists discussing their work, extensive social media promotion, judging feedback, Prize announcements, and sales opportunities.
SAINT CLOCHE GALLERY OPPORTUNITY
